Day 5 (45 miles)

Grand Maris to Munising. Got to sleep at home! Today was a great day, beautiful weather and a nice day to run Pictered Rocks. Lots of hikers on the section enjoying the views. Long day but made it. Legs are sore the 5th day is the hardest right?

  2. Wednesday Scott traveled from Grand Marais to Munising Falls. At The Woodland Park Campground in Grand Marais we could hear the waves roaring on Lake Superior all night. We met Scott at various points along the way to refuel and he mentioned that coming out of grand marais the trail was along a dune cliff for a bit where he had to hold onto trees on the side of the “trail”. I was able to hike the Miners Castle to Sand Point portion with him. Close to Sand Point we met Rhonda (MBTN’s awesome president) who had hiked up to see Scott along the trail. Rhonda and I split off to the Sand Point parking lot and met Scott at Munising Falls. We ate pasties that Rhonda had picked up from Miners Pasties in town (Thanks Rhonda) and refrigerated a couple breakfast pasties that Miners Pasties donated (Thanks Pam!) My dad brought Wren out to see Scott on the trail and greet him at Munising Falls.
